Artwalk

Take a Artwalk in our lobby,
You will see the traditional art and craft
coming alive…

In the 1850s, Kathmandu valley artisans were set the challenge of creating palatial homes and stately government buildings in neo classical design by the Rana regime.

Using brick and wood 40 grand palaces were built for the Rana rulers within a century. In 1855, Lal durbar, the Victorian inspired palace was built as the personal residence of Prime Minister Bir Shumsher JB Rana. This palace now comprises the convention wing of Hotel Yak & Yeti.

A century and a half hence, The Lal Durbar is the inspired backdrop of the Artwalk. With the intent to carry forward the tradition of promoting local artisans the “walk through art” or the Art-walk is set in the grandeur of the Lal Durbar. The artistic expressions of young craftsmen and women whose ancestors once created the heritage cities of Kathmandu , Patan and Bhaktapur will be on display in the palace wing.

A joint venture of Yak & Yeti ,Crafted in Kathmandu, (a company dedicated to reviving the world heritage cities) and partner bitarak.com (a direct marketing and outsourcing company) The Artwalk brings themed exhibitions every fortnight with focus on ancient craft of Kathmandu valley.
